You liked polaroids. You liked the chunkiness, the click, and the tentative waiting of two figures bent over a faded piece of plastic, watching the colours drain in. You liked things raw, unprocessed, your purist traits extending into your fingers when you took my hand away from the mouse and the comforts of post-production. You showed me the outside, natural light and daytime. Then you showed me the inside, red light, and a host of chemicals as you worked your patient magic. I watched you keenly in the dark, knowing you wouldn’t see me smile, wouldn’t see me blush when our hug developed and you hung it up to dry.

-On Inge Street-‘Inge’ like ‘whinge’ without the soft press of the ‘wh’ between the lips, the kiss of the syllable. ‘Inge’ like ‘cringe’ and ‘binge’. It lacked something, and covered something up like ‘fringe’.  
       On Inge Street, the Victorian candy shop and the Subway stood side by side. The glass jars reflected the plastic wrappers clutched in young male hands and as they wafted onto the pavement into green puddles of neon. It didn’t rain on Inge Street, it dribbled. Everywhere. Like a two year old in hysterics across my head, my coat, m -On Inge Street-

Imagine a dark room lit by a faint glow in the corner. The sickly yellow light falls on a face, and the round, hunched shoulders of something that might be human. There are words on the table, and words on the floor, multitudiness to the point of nonsense. Empty glasses of yesterday's water lie close by, precarious. Not an inch of surface can be seen anywhere. There is no floor, no table, just the light, the figure and the words, words, words... I smell exams.

I totally agree, when I chose landscapes for my project I wasn't too happy about it, but looking at Andrew Wyeth's work made me change my mind. I love the way he uses people to show the significance and symbolic meaning of a landscape :)

I'm enjoying looking at your work and seeing your response to A-level! :)

Andrew Wyeth is a wonderful artist. I saw "Christina's World" at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and spent half an hour in front of it simply sketching and savouring and listening to a nice American man talking about it. I'm not a huge fan of landscapes but I love the way Wyeth handles it :)

I am alive, and I'm well enough. The Senior Portfolio requirement for my Creative Writing Major is kicking my butt. My poor, sore butt. :work:

But I'm graduating in June, so maybe THEN I'll have time to check my dA more than once a week--and then just to delete some stuff in my inbox and reply to a couple of comments. *wistful face*
